Dr. Justine Elliot

Registered Psychologist & Certified Play Therapist (CPT)

I was drawn to psychology from a young age, valuing the importance of helping others meaningfully. As a Registered Psychologist, I prioritize authenticity and strive to create supportive, safe, and collaborative relationships with my clients. My integrative approach allows me to tailor evidence-based practices to each person’s needs. While I work with individuals across the lifespan, I am particularly passionate about supporting children and parents who have experienced traumatic loss.

Outside the therapy room, I supervise students through various university programs and serve as a Faculty of Education Adjunct Academic Colleague at the University of Alberta. I also volunteer as a board director and education committee member with the Canadian Association for Play Therapy (CAPT).

I completed my BA in Psychology at MacEwan University, MA in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University, and Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) at California Southern University, where my research focused on traumatic loss in children. My clinical experience spans private and community mental health settings, including work with children, adolescents, and adults.

I utilize Play Therapy, ACT, EMDR, somatic interventions, CBT, Trauma-Focused CBT, the Intergenerational Trauma Treatment Model (ITTM), Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), and The Grief Recovery Method®. I have additional training in attachment-based work, childhood trauma recovery, substance use support, and early childhood development.

I am a Certified Play Therapist (CPT), Registered Circle of Security® Parent Facilitator, and Certified Grief Recovery Specialist®. I also offer billing for Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) and Medavie.
