Gina Baretta
Registered Provisional Psychologist
I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist with a strong passion for supporting people who are navigating grief, trauma, and other life challenges. From a young age, I had a vision of becoming a psychologist however my passion for supporting people through grief and trauma emerged after my dad suddenly died in 2012. This sudden loss was isolating, heart wrenching, and life as I knew it changed in an instant. After navigating my own healing journey, I made it my mission to offer support for those experiencing grief and traumatic experiences.
I prioritize offering a safe and supportive space for you to lead with authenticity and process your challenges in a judgment free atmosphere. As humans, it is inevitable that we will experience suffering however, you do not have to walk alone. I am collaborative, compassionate, authentic and use evidence based interventions to support you on your healing journey.
The therapeutic approaches that I commonly use with adolescents, teens and individuals include Person-Centered Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, Parts work, The Grief Recovery Method, and Eye-Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy.
The therapeutic approaches that I commonly use in couples therapy include The Gottman Method, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy.

In my free time I enjoy trying local restaurants and indulging in wine and cheese nights with friends and family. I always have a travel bug and would say my favorite place I travelled was Italy and France. For self-care, I love attending spin classes, running, spending time with friends and family, reading and cooking new recipes.

I have been supporting people through grief and loss since 2017. My therapeutic work started by offering Grief Recovery Groups using The Grief Recovery Method. In 2017 I graduated from Concordia University of Edmonton with a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Psychology. Soon after, I began my Masters of Counselling from City University of Seattle and graduated in 2021. For my capstone project, I extensively researched how Mindfulness and The Grief Recovery Method could support individuals navigating chronic pain. The inspiration behind my research was recognizing the grief and loss people experience when navigating chronic pain.

I have also engaged in several public speaking engagements discussing grief and loss in high schools, grief debriefs for companies experiencing a loss and free community talks. I also appeared on Global TV Evening News on a segment about Grief and the Holidays.
